'The Wind on your Skin' - shedding light on GBV and LGBTI issues in rural communities in Namibia

Updated: Nov 26, 2020

This NFC (Namibia Film Commission) funded short film is called “The Wind on Your Skin”, forming the third episode of a scripted drama web series, written and produced by Naomi Beukes and directed by Jana von Hase and Birgit Stauber. The episode focuses on the pressing issue of gender based violence (GBV) in Namibia, which tragically often leads to the brutal murder of girls and women. This moving drama explores how the community of Rehoboth is shaken, when a young woman from a small town LGBTI community is killed, because of who she loves. This close to life scripted reality piece shows how these brutal acts can spark a wave of resistance by the reeling together as women and using social media as a visibilty tool in the fight against GBV.
